NEW OFFICE POLICIES DUE TO COVID-19
Due to recommendations by the CDC, Dept. of Public Health, American Optometric Association and American Academy of Ophthalmology, we have designed our office protocols to ensure the safety of our patients and our staff. Here is a brief summary:
- Staff: All staff will have their Temperature and Oxygen Saturation levels measured each day, confirm that they do not have any symptoms of COVID-19 nor have been in contact with anyone with COVID-19, practice hand hygiene when entering the office and throughout the day, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as appropriate.
- Patients: Patients will enter the office alone, but may accompanied by one adult if they need assistance. Upon entering the office for any reason, they will have their temperature taken, screened for having no symptoms of COVID-19, asked if they have had COVID-19 but recovered more than 1 month ago, or had any exposure to anyone tested positive or suspected to have COVID-19 more than 14 days ago. People will not be able to enter the office if any of these statements are not true. Patients will be asked to wait in their vehicle or outside the office front door, while obeying social distancing rules, and they will be called or texted when the office is ready to accommodate them.
- Hygiene: Masks will be worn at all times when in the office. Hand sanitizing or hand washing will be done upon entering the office.
- All patient visits, from eye examinations to contact lens dispensing and eyeglass fitting, dispensing and repairs will be done by appointment only to control the number of people in the office at one time. Our schedule will be reduced as much as 50% to allow for all of these changes in our office protocol. As a result, there may be a longer wait time for patients to be scheduled for an appointment.
- A Copy of Our Office Protocol is provided below. This protocol may change as our experience and guidance changes. However, these are the best practices to keep everyone safe due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We appreciate your patience and help as we install this protocol.
